Egypt’s telecom cranks out a sweet valentine for free speech and shared crap

Egypt’s banning (for 30 days) of YouTube’s hosted video trailer for The Innocence of Muslims” is being baffled by simple technological fact.

Internet technology experts recently told Egypt Independent that enforcing the ban would be costly and difficult.

Egypt doesn’t need “costly and difficult”, and c’mon, wiping the entire connected Egyptian population’s caches and connections is basically impossible, even for the wannabe al-powerful dogmacrats of the Brotherhood.

Egypt’s National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA), that would be tasked with immediately achieving the impossible, is said to be appealing the ban.

The Guardian also has more details on the players and issues at play, including names.
